Botulinum Toxin A
Botulinum Toxin A is a substance derived from the bacterium Clostridium botulinum, one of the most potent toxins. Botulinum injections block chemical signals from nerves that cause muscles to contract. This prevents the injected muscles from tensing up, which can relax and soften wrinkles.
Botulinum products are most commonly used to treat facial wrinkles, such as frown lines, crow's feet, and forehead lines. The effects of Botulinum injections are temporary and can last anywhere from three to twelve months, depending on the product used and the area being treated. Depending on the product, the effects become noticeable in two to three weeks (or sooner).
Botox is the most famous brand, but other brands of Botulinum toxin exist. These include Xeomin, Jeuveau, and Dysport. Each brand has its unique features.
Areas Treated
The Glabella
The glabella is the skin area between the eyebrows and above the nose. Treating the glabella region with Botulinum toxin treats the frown lines between the eyebrows, commonly referred to as "Eleven Lines". It also elevates the height of the eyebrows by allowing the forehead muscles to pull the relaxed eyebrows upwards.

Crow's Feet
Crow’s feet are pronounced lines at the outer corners of the eyes. They are one of the first signs of premature aging skin because the skin around the eyes is the thinnest.

Crow’s feet appear due to the activity of muscles around the eyes, which move when we laugh, smile, squint, etc. When the skin is young, the wrinkles are visible only when we make these facial expressions. However, as we age, the levels of collagen and elastin decline, and wrinkles remain visible even after the muscles stop contracting.

Several factors accelerate collagen decline and the formation of crow’s feet. They include:
-
Sun exposure
-
Smoking
-
Alcohol
-
Chronic stress
-
Inadequate skin care

Other Facial Areas
Horizontal Forehead Lines
These horizontal lines can form across your forehead, usually caused by raising your eyebrows repeatedly over time.
"Bunny Lines"
These wrinkles appear on either side of your nose when you scrunch up your face, and they can be treated with Botulinum toxin injections in the bridge of the nose to smooth them out.
Lipstick Lines (Smoker's Lines)
Small vertical lines can develop above your upper lip. They are often referred to as "Smoker's lines" or "Lipstick lines" and can be treated with Botulinum toxin injections in the area between the nose and upper lip, giving the lips a more youthful appearance
Jawline
Botulinum toxin can be injected into the muscles along your jaw for a more defined jawline, resulting in more relaxed facial muscles and a slimmer appearance.
Neck
Botulinum toxin can improve the appearance of Platysmal bands or “turkey neck” by relaxing the muscles in this area. It can also help to reduce the appearance of a double chin.
Chin
A small amount of Botulinum toxin injected into the chin can help reduce the appearance of a double chin and give the skin a smoother, tighter appearance.
Corners of the Mouth
Botulinum injections in the wrinkles at the corners of the mouth (sometimes called “Marionette lines”), can help soften them by relaxing the muscles in that area.
